Computer networks - Introduction
What is a computer network?
When two devices forms a connection with each other to exchange data or processes then it is said to be a computer network. The device could be anything a mobile phone, a desktop or microprocessor.
The connection between two devices could be wired or wireless depending you then needs and availability
Why computer network is required ?
Before jumping into the theory of computer networks a person should understand its importance and why computer network is asked in companies like google and Microsoft.
The major reason for this is data, the whole internet is running on data at the end of the day your product , your software will send to the users screen through a computer network so we required a good and secured method which keep on improving regularly.
Features of Computer networks :
Resource sharing - The major goal of computer network is to form a connection between 2 devices to share the data from one device to another in an efficient and less lossy manner.
Security - Computer networks provide security to the user by encryption ,dynamic route allocation and many protocols to share the data in a secured manner.
Flexibility -Flexibility the the major key that computer networks provides you. Let us take an example, User A wants to send data faster don’t need any security checks or error corrections while User B wants to send data in a secure and error free manner. Through computer networks both are possible by tweaking the protocols.
Types of computer networks :
LAN- Local area network is the type of computer network where the devices are connected within the short range. This type of network could be your school ,office etc.
WAN - Wide area network is the interconnection of many local area networks make a big chunk of devices to interact and share resources with each other.
PAN - Personal area network is the interconnection of devices from a particular user. For example a user connecting his phone with desktop ,his mouse with laptop are considered to be as personal area network
This was all about the introduction to computer networks if you gained any knowledge through this then share it with your friends and don’t forget to subscribe ‘Code and Circuits’ for more programming stuff.
